Observatory Open Evening

As part of BBC2’s Stargazing Live series, which begins tonight, there are a number of astronomy-related events being held around the country. In Chesterfield, the observatory in Newbold is holding some open evenings.

Dates: 4 – 6 January, 8:30-11:00pm

Location: The Barnett Observatory, Hastings Close, Newbold, Chesterfield, Derbyshire S41 8RH

Description (from Stargazing Live site): An evening of astronomy using the main observatory telescope plus an opportunity ask any questions you have about astronomy. In the event of cloudy skies, there will be astronomical lectures and tours of the observatory. There will be a nominal £1 entry fee per adult, 50p for under 16’s. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Parking is available at the observatory for a limited number of cars but this is a residential area so please park considerately if no spaces are available.
