The Dark Monarch: magic and modernity in British art

Pants: we missed the exhibition at the Tate Gallery entitled The Dark Monarch.  To paraphrase the website: It explored the influence of folklore, mysticism, mythology and the occult on the development of art in Britain.   Focusing on works from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day it considered, in particular, the relationship they have to the landscape and legends of the British Isles.  Fortunately there’s still plenty of information online which you can go have a look through.

There was also an article written by Paul Newman to coincide with the exhibition, which you can find here.
