Ant on Stanton

Quote reads: "If I pick an ant up on the tip of my glove, and I put it down again and it asks another ant, "what was that?" - how would it explain? There are things in the universe billions of years older than us. They're vast, timeless, and if they're aware of us at all, it is as little more than ants, and we have as much chance of communicating with them as an ant has with us. They are a mystery. And I am both terrified and reassured to know that there are still wonders in the universe, that we have not yet explained everything."Following the epic shindig that was the Derbyshire Pagans Summer Camp 2010, we (that’s to say Amalasuntha and me) went for a walk up on Stanton Moor, where we took a few pictures, and found this ant.  Working like a veritable little Trojan to circumnavigate a foxglove.  It put us in mind of a little piece of wisdom from G’Kar, Narn ambassador to Babylon 5 in the science fiction TV show, um, Babylon 5.  I’m a great believer in accepting wisdom wherever it’s found; and if it happens to come from a fictional character in a rather fab space series from the early 90s, well, that’s just fine with me.

More pictures of the Summer Camp will follow when we’ve recovered a bit.  Needless to say, if you have any pics or anecdotes of your own (for example, say, being woken up at 0230hrs, perhaps, by some… raised voices?), just feel free to sling them our way, and we’ll post them up.
